CABARET / musical
Based on the Italian film '8 ½' by Fredirico Fellini, Nine follows film director Guido Contini, who is unknowingly experiencing the end of his marriage while also suffering from director's block on his last film. He retreats into his mind, where women from his past and present throw reality into question.
The musical moves rapidly through reality, memory, and fantasy. Using nine movable painted book flats, we created a series of fleeting film sets. Allowing Guido to curate what we see on screen, omitting what he is reluctant to show.
